I wonder when it went out of fashion to paint pictures of sophisticated women enjoying a good book. Nowadays, if they read at all, they would have to be painted enjoying their kindles or nooks.
It's a beautiful picture, but, as Sam points out, probably a thing of the past. With a Kindle, I hold a whole library in my hands and it's hard to compete with that.
There are few things as good as reading a good book. :)
The story on Vella is going great! I love how Ellie got a new perspective from the ice sculpture, about getting involved. And Jenna was a little upset at the kiss?? Hmmm... oh, NOW I see. Jenna is his ******? :):)):
I did NOT guess it. I love where this is going. And I hope Ellie gives Derek another chance. You really manage to capture the feel of the little town, all snowy and lots secrets... it occurred to me though that my above comment is a little spoilery, even though I x'd it out, so delete if you want to :)
Oh I love the quote (and the book it came from) and I love the art. I think as soon as I get all the Christmas done with I'm going to spend a day lying on the couch reading!
I love the art and the quote!
ReplyDeleteYes, nice art and definitely a nice quote. Thanks, Lark!
ReplyDeleteI have that book on my tbr mountain!
ReplyDeleteAlways! This is the season for cozy reading time!
ReplyDeleteYes! What a great quote. Love the painting too. :)

ReplyDeleteAnd kindles and nooks just aren't as artistic as books imo.

ReplyDeleteIt really is! Kindles are great, but I will always love real books best. :D

DeleteYour comment doesn't spoil anything...and it just might make someone want to find out the secret for themselves. Which is all good in my book. :D
DeleteBeautiful bookish art! Love reading when it's so cold outside. :)
ReplyDeleteShe looks so cozy there. Great painting.
ReplyDeleteSophia Rose
I love that painting. Such wonderful colors.
ReplyDeleteLove it--I think I will go pretend to be the young lady in the painting and have a lie down and read!
ReplyDeleteThat's how I want to spend my Christmas break! ;D
DeleteI want a week to lay around and read, that's it!

ReplyDeleteWhere else could you get so much pleasure? As always, a lovely combination of art and quote.
ReplyDeleteShe looks pretty sly and comfortable reading. Don't Disturb!
ReplyDeleteThat looks like the most comfiest of couches. Beautiful book art and quote!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely agree with the quote. The art is lovely.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day.
I love this painting. It's so relatable (although I never look that lovely when I'm lounging)! Ha ha.
