Top Ten Tuesday is a fun weekly meme hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week's theme is BOOKISH GOALS FOR 2024...which I've already posted about. But, one of my bookish goals this year is to read more nonfiction. So here are 10 Nonfiction Books I Hope to Read in 2024 instead:
Deaf Utopia by Nyle DiMarco
The Next Everest by Jim Davidson
Operation Pineapple Express by Lt. Col. Scott Mann
Outlandish by Nick Hunt
Hearts of Darkness by Jana Monroe
The War Magician by David Fisher
Cobalt Red by Siddharth Kara
My Side of the River by Elizabeth Camarillo Gutierrez
Tap Code by Carlyle S. Harris
I Know Who You Are by Barbara Rae-Venter
The Last Season by Eric Blehm
Have you read any of these? Are there other awesome nonfiction books you've read that I should add to my list? Let me know! I'm always looking for good nonfiction reads.
Happy Reading!
I rarely read nonfiction but I think I've one or two copies on my TBR pile, such as "Surrounded by Psychopaths" by Thomas Erikson.
ReplyDeleteI think I'll be intrigued by "The Next Everest" so I look forward to your thoughts if you read it. :)
I'm hoping to read The Next Everest sometime this year. And I'll have to see of my library has Surrounded by Psychopaths. That sounds like an interesting book.
DeleteHaving read I'll Be Gone in the Dark, I'd like to read I Know Who You Are.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me about Michelle McNamara's book! That's another one I'd like to read. :D
DeleteI’m curious about My Side of the River, too.
ReplyDeleteHere is my Top Ten Tuesday post.
It looks like a really good memoir.
DeleteA few of these are on my list. Regine
ReplyDelete:D There are just so many good books out there to read, aren't there?
DeleteDeaf Utopia looks like a good read.
ReplyDeleteHere is our Top Ten Tuesday.
Astilbe
It's high on my list! :D
DeleteYou have a few of these that I would be interested in. Great post!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Hopefully they all turn out to be as good as they sound.
DeleteGreat list! I love reading nonfiction. It seems like I tend to enjoy reading nonfiction more these days than reading fiction.
ReplyDeleteSometimes I can read nonfiction when I can't settle in to a fiction book. But they have to be really well written.
DeleteOutlandish by Nick Hunt is on my list of nonfiction to read also. I hope I get to it this year, although I have a hard time getting myself to read nonfiction.
ReplyDeleteOutlandish looks like a lot of fun. And it's hard to fit in nonfiction books when you're juggling so many fiction books. At least it is for me.
DeleteI haven't read any of them, but Outlandish sounds particularly fun to me.
ReplyDeleteIt does look like fun. Cath recommended it, so I know I'll probably really like it, too. :D
DeleteI seldom read nonfiction but you have an interesting list there.
ReplyDeleteNonfiction books feed my love of learning new things...and they make me feel smarter, too. ;D
DeleteI haven't read or heard of any of these, but they do sound good! The War Magician especially. I hope you enjoy all of these when you read them!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'm hoping they all turn out to be as good as they sound. Fingers crossed. :D
DeleteReading all of these is a great goal in itself. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteIt should be easy to read ten nonfiction books in a year, but there's always so many more fiction books I want to read that sometimes the nonfiction titles on my list end up getting shoved to the back. But I'm hoping to do better this year.
DeleteI need to read more non fiction. I enjoy histories but just never prioritize them over fiction. Outlandish looks excellent,
ReplyDeleteThat's been my problem lately, prioritizing fiction over nonfiction. Probably because my fiction list is so much longer than my nonfiction one.
DeleteI'm always trying to read more nonfiction as well. Good luck with your goals. Outlandish sounds like something I'd like.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I've heard really good things about Outlandish.
DeleteI need to read more non-fiction. The last non-fiction that I loved was Written in Bone by Sue Black.
ReplyDeleteWritten in Bone sounds really good. I'm going to add it to my list. :D
DeleteI have not heard of any of these! I hope you do get the opportunity to read them and enjoy them!
ReplyDeleteIt shouldn't be hard to fit in ten nonfiction books. I actually have more on my list, but I struggle to fit them in with all the fiction books I want to read. But I'm hoping to do better this year.
DeleteHearts of Darkness and I Know Who You Are sound like they'd be interesting! Good luck in your reading challenge, Lark. I look forward to your thoughts on both of them. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! Even if I don't write long reviews of any of these books, I'll try and post my thoughts and ratings for each one.
DeleteI've been really into True Crime recently, so Hearts of Darkness and I Know Who You Are sound great to me. Have you read I'll Be Gone in the Dark?
ReplyDeleteTrue Crime can be fascinating. I used to read it a lot more, but haven't in awhile. But this is the year I get back to it! :D
DeleteMy Side of the River and The Last Season are on my TBR. I love nonfiction and always want to read more of it. I hope you enjoy all these!
ReplyDeleteThose two look SO good. I'm looking forward to checking them out.
DeleteGreat list there, Lark! I hope you get to Outlandish, it's excellent. I fancy I have that Everest book on my 'Mountains' shelf on Goodreads. I want to read more non-fiction this year too.
ReplyDeleteYou always find the most interesting nonfiction books to read. I love reading your reviews of them...even if it adds even more books to my own TBR list. ;D
DeleteI had no idea that Nyle had a book!! I'm going to add that to the TBR. I remember watching him on Dancing with the Stars and being blown away!
ReplyDeleteHe's pretty amazing.
DeleteI've really slacked off on nonfiction lately, haven't read one this year yet at all, but some of these look really good. I've requested an ARC of My Side of the River but haven't heard back yet on that one, and I find Outlandish and Hearts of Darkness particularly interesting. I'll look for those - and can't wait for you to tell us what you think of them.
ReplyDeleteThis is the one bookish list that I'm going to really try to finish this year because I do really enjoy reading good nonfiction.
DeleteI always like a good narrative non-fiction read, so I'll have to take a closer look at some of these. I hope you enjoy your NF reads this year!
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
Thanks, Susan! There are so many different books I want to read from fiction to nonfiction that it's hard to fit them all in.
DeleteWow nonfiction eh? My Side of the River and I Know Who You Are look good. It's so good now that mass killers are being identified thru DNA databases. That Long Island guy too.
ReplyDeleteIt's fascinating how they can track down serial killers these days. Forensic geneaology is an interesting field.
DeleteI love nonfiction and I feel like it gets such a miss by a lot of folks! Good reminder for me, I also had Deaf Utopia on my list but forgot about it. I'm about to start The Art Thief by Michael Finkel!
ReplyDeleteThe Art Thief sounds really good. I love books about art and artists and art thefts. I'm putting that one on my list. Thanks! :D
DeleteI hope they are good.
ReplyDeleteMe, too! ;D
DeleteReading more non-fiction is a great goal! I very rarely read non-fiction, but there are a bunch of books I'm interested in and really should make time for. I picked up a copy of Deaf Utopia last year and haven't started it yet, but I really do want to read it! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteDeaf Utopia looks like a really good book. I'm excited to read that one.
DeleteI haven't read any of them but I see several that are on my TBR. I'm planning on upping my nonfiction reading goal this year and there are so many great books to choose from.
ReplyDeleteI'm making a serious effort to read more nonfiction this year just because I have so many nonfiction titles on my TBR list that I never seem to get around to reading.
DeleteI hope you enjoy all of these!
ReplyDeleteI hope I get around to reading them all. ;D
DeleteThis is an intriguing list. I'm especially interested in The Next Everest. People who climb Mount Everest are fascinating to me!
ReplyDeleteI agree. It's something I would never even attempt to do, but I do like reading about those who do try to climb it. :D
DeleteSo many interesting titles. The ones which caught my eye were The War Magician and I Know Who You Are. I hope are are able to get to all of these so you can tell us about them!
ReplyDeleteI hope I get to them all, too. I'm really going to try! :D
DeleteI love to read books about Everest! I might need to pick this one up, too! Happy reading in 2024!
ReplyDeleteI love reading books about extreme adventures like climbing Mt. Everest, too. :D
