The Hu is a Mongolian band that combines traditional Mongolian instruments and throat singing with a hard rock sound. I'm a little obsessed with them. (Thanks, Will!)
This is their song Yuve Yuve Yu.
Give it a listen and see what you think.
(P.S. The actual song starts about 1 minute in.)
Happy Listening!
Thanks for sharing Lark. A very interesting music video where The Hu, who I had never heard of, tap into there Mongolian history and ancestry. I know pretty much nothing about Mongolia. Looked the country up on the map and its located between China and Russia but now having heard The Hu I'd like to learn more.
ReplyDeleteWho knew there were rock bands even in Mongolia? It's such a small world, isn't it? :)
DeleteHow cool!
ReplyDeleteYes, and I think they're fascinating! I watched several of their videos when I first saw them. :) Thanks for reminding me, I'm off to watch and listen again!

ReplyDeleteI love that they don't sound like anyone else. :)
DeleteNever heard of them but kinda liked it! Love the instruments and the scenery too. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteThe scenery is amazing! :)
DeleteWow pretty awesome. I wasn't sure at first if I liked it but by the end I was hooked. and now the song is in my head. :) Also LOVED the landscapes. amazing!
ReplyDeleteIt does get stuck in your head, doesn't it? I find myself humming the chorus yuve yuve yu at odd moments. :)
DeleteThat is AWESOME! My tastes in music run to the hard rock/core side of things and I loved it. :D How did you hear of them?
ReplyDeleteMy nephew ran across them and knew that I love a good hard rock sound in my songs, too, so he played some of their stuff for me and I was hooked. :)
DeleteNope, never heard of them, but it's fun to find new bands to love. :)
ReplyDeleteI do love new music to listen to. :)
