"...a life spent reading-that is a good life." -Annie Dillard
I love that picture, I wonder how we would have done if we lived in those times? I guess I might have been happy!
I could enjoy spending a few quiet weekends like that. Maybe not all the time though.
Absolutely agree with Jenny Colgan - life's too short to waste time on a book you're not enjoying!
Right? :)
Good sentiments (funnily enough I've just abandoned a book) and a nice relaxing scene.
Yay for abandoning any book you're not enjoying! :D
Pretty stylish reading room!
It's pretty, isn't it? I just think it should have a few more bookshelves in it. :)
Lovely picture! And I completely agree with that quote. There are too many good books out there to waste time on the ones we're not enjoying. :)
I believe in DNFing any book I'm not loving. :)
Beautiful
That's really pretty.
Beautiful and I totally agree! :)
Ooh i like this! And what a lovely quote! Life should be surrounded by books. :)
Yes! I so agree. :)
Definitely loving this post - it's spot on!
Thanks, Nadia. :)
Some time ago, I tried to create an old-look photo, tried to hunt down older historical paintings for that. I couldn't find a single one on the museum websites! I wish I had found this one then. Thanks for sharing this one~
Glad you like it. :)
Great art pick! How do you find all of the pieces you post about?
I run across them in books, and on calendars, and at museums, and sometimes I just google paintings of women reading and I get lucky. :)
Lovely painting and that's a great quote, too!
I love the quote!
Great advice from Jenny Colgan. DNFing books I'm not enjoying is something I've really been trying to get better about.
I find it gets easier the older I get. :)
Excellent quote and one I follow. If a book is not working for me, go to another. And, isn't that painting beautiful?
