Favorite reads of 2022, Part I....

I always find it hard each year to narrow my list of favorite books down to just ten, or twelve. Especially when I read between 150-200 books every year....in every genre: romances, mysteries, thrillers, science fiction, fantasy, nonfiction, classics, and more. My compromise this year? Multiple lists. And even then, I'm leaving out a lot of really good books. But I can't list them all. so, here are some of the books I read and loved in 2022:

3 Best Nonfiction Books:

Best Historical Fiction Book:

The Slow March of Light by Heather B. Moore

And 12 of my Favorite Romances:

The Heart Principle by Helen Hoang

Yes & I Love You by Roni Loren

Stay tuned for more favorites in my next post....
and Happy Reading!

  1. I knew my friend, Lisa, would love The Bodyguard, so I told her about it, and she requested it from her library in the one-horse town she had just moved to. And she waited...and waited...and waited...three months! Finally arrived..and she did, she did love it.

    1. The Bodyguard was such a great romantic read. I loved that one so much. It's one I'd like to own. I'm glad your friend was able to get a copy of it to read. :D

  2. Hi Lark, The book that jumps out at me from your list is Nomadland. I have wanted to read it because of your very fine review and also I love books about people who take off on their vans to explore the country. But this book is more serious. The people living in vans in Nomadland are doing it because of economic reasons and that's a little scary. But I have heard great things about Nomadland. it's an important book about how many people are living today

  4. Making multiple lists is a good idea. It's so hard to narrow them down! I haven't read any of these books but The Slow March of Light sounds good.

  5. We so enjoyed the television series based on "Nomadland" but I haven't read the book. I'm sure I would enjoy it.

I like looking at these end of year lists, but I find it extremely hard to make one of my own. I'm always second-guessing myself.

    1. As soon as I post one of these lists I always wish I could take it back and do it over, because it's hard to narrow a year's reading down to just ten or twelve books. And I think you would like Nomadland...it's a fascinating read.

  7. I haven't done a post on favorite reads for the year in the last few years and I haven't decided whether I will this year or not. It would be even harder this year, since I am reading less mysteries and more of everything else.

I look forward to List 2 of your favorite books.

    1. Favorite lists have gotten harder for me over the years. I think it's because I'm reading more books, and choosing better ones to read.

  8. More books for me to investigate and probably buy. LOL! Like everyone else I want to read Nomadland but I also fancy The Bodyguard.

I'm quite intrigued by The Slow March of Light. Might want to read that when I'm in the mood for war stories...

    1. I'll be interested to see if you've read any from my next post. I didn't include any of my favorite classics from this year because I kind of did my favorites in my Classics wrap up post.

    2. I just checked, nope, haven't read any of them, either. There you can see how many books there are around if two avid readers like us don't even have one book in common. Must go and explore the classics because I'm sure I must have read a few from that list. Have a good day, Lark.

I didn't read Nomadland, but I thought the movie was incredible. Best wishes for a wonderful 2023, filled with so many great reads!
