What I've been thinking about this week is why I wanted to start blogging in the first place. More specifically, why I wanted to start a book blog. One reason is that I was reading so many books every year they were starting to blur and blend together; and I thought writing about and reviewing the books I was reading would help me remember them better. And it has.
The other, more important reason I wanted to be part of the book-blogging world is because I was looking to connect with other people who love books and reading as much as me--people who wouldn't think it's odd or weird that I read 150+ books every year, or that I go to the library every three weeks like clockwork and come home with a bag full of books each time, or that reading a good book tops my list of "things I love to do".
In short, I was looking for connection.
For community.
And I found so much more.
I found friends.
So here's a big THANK YOU! to all of you, my bookish blogging friends from around the world who comment on my blog every week just to chat about books. You're the best! I am truly lucky to have had you in my life these past ten years.
Happy Blogging...and Reading!
Happy 10th Blogiversary! :)
ReplyDeleteSame as you, my 1st motivation in blogging about book is to keep memory of each book I've read, just like we take photos when we are travelling or having special events. But eventually, I realized that the interconnection with other book bloggers are equally important for me. I feel like I have a second family, with whom I can talk/discuss/share about what I love. In the end, the connection helps in shaping me/my blog into what I am/it is today.
I do love the connection I find with other book bloggers... finding books we both love, getting introduced to books I otherwise wouldn't have known about, it's so great. :D
DeleteCongratulations! And well done for staying the course. It's been wonderful meeting you and discovering that we often like the same books. It's 15 years for me so far and I started a book blog to join the book community and make friends. Which I have and it has been the best thing I ever did. Not just because of the people I've met but the books I've discovered that I never would have known about. 🤗
ReplyDeleteYes to both! I love that we share so many books in common, and someday I hope to come to your part of England so you can show me all the best bookstores there. :D
DeleteBrilliant, Lark! Congratulations to ten years of blogging. I know the feeling. I've done twelve years in October. For me, the reason was to keep in touch with the book club members who moved away (of which there were too many). I never intended it to be a "real blog". And, same as you, I found many friends here. Such a wonderful community.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my TTT which only has five books this week.
It's the best community! And so fun finding people who love to read the same books as me and who introduce me to new books...which your blog always does. :D
DeleteI'm glad you say that. I love blogging just as much as you do and it's always nice to hear it is appreciated.
DeleteIt definitely is!
DeleteHappy 10th anniversary, and may you have many more.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! :D
DeleteCongratulations. I’m so grateful I found you. You are a blessing. Email me anytime.

DeleteCongratulations! 10 years of blogging is a great achievement. I also started my blog so I would have a record of all the books I read - I didn't know the book blogging community was so big and welcoming, so that was a nice surprise and I love being part of it.
ReplyDeleteI love being part of it, too! Yours was one of the first book blogs I found and followed. :D
DeleteHappy Blogoversary! I'm grateful that you started blogging, and I appreciate your posts. I hope you have another 10 fun years of blogging.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kami. I'm hoping for ten more years, too. :D
DeleteHappy Blogversary, Lark! I love hearing about what you have been reading and I do so understand about reaching out and finding people in the book community that approach reading like I do. We have all definitely found our 'happy place'! Take care and looking forward to more reading to come.
ReplyDeleteIt is our happy place! That's the perfect way to describe it. :D

DeleteCongratulation Lark on your ten year anniversary! I am so happy to have found your book blog and I always look forward to your excellent reviews. I have learned so much including new books I otherwise would never have heard about or read. As you say I started my blog for one or two reasons but it turned out to be so much more. I wish you a great new year and I hope you continue blogging for another ten years and more.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kathy! I always look forward to reading your reviews and seeing which classics you've found to read next. :D

DeleteCongratulations on #10--that's a real achievement! And I always enjoy reading your posts--haiku reviews! Quote and picture! Comics! It is fun to connect.
ReplyDeleteAnd there's nothing odd about reading 150+ books a year, is there?...I certainly hope not...
:D Reading that much is odd to many of the people I work with and know...but not to me. And not to you, which makes me happy. Thanks for being such a good blogging friend!
DeleteHappy anniversary! The bookish community has been such a gift! It's so nice to get to know people who read the way we do.
ReplyDeleteIt is truly a gift to be included in this community of so many wonderful and kind book bloggers!
DeleteCongratulations on ten years of blogging. That is such a commitment. Here's to many more!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe I've been doing this for ten years...makes me wonder where the years went. ;D
DeleteI had thought you have been blogging longer but 10 years is still quite a long time. Congrats to you.
ReplyDeleteI did found some interesting reads through your blog though my taste is quite different from yours and you always seem to be reading something more interesting than me. You definitely read more books also.
Happy Blogging to you too! And have a lovely day.
Thanks, Lissa! I always enjoy reading your posts...and your thoughtful comments. :D
DeleteHappy Blogiversary!
ReplyDeleteThank you!
DeleteCongratulations! What a wonderful achievement!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I don't honestly know where those ten years went they went by so fast. ;D
Delete🎂 Happy Blogiversary!
ReplyDelete:D Thank you!
DeleteI just had my ten years this last June, but I forgot to feature it, lol! Congratulations on your ten years! It's been a joy connecting with you, Lark! No one understands a passion for books like other book lovers! :)
ReplyDeleteI've loved connecting with you over all the books we have in common! It's been so fun. Thanks for your friendship! :D
DeleteAhh sweet. Happy 10th Blogiversary! I too started my blog so I could remember what I read better .... and also to connect & see what others thought of the same books and different ones. Glad you are still going!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Some weeks I wonder what to write about, but I can't imagine not being part of this awesome blogging community.
DeleteHappy 10th blogging anniversary. And I am happy that I have found your blog.
ReplyDeleteI think you have expressed well the two prime reasons for blogging, remembering the books you have read and connections with other book lovers and bloggers.
Do you write something about every book you read?
I keep a notebook where I list all the books I read, and I sometimes jot a small note by the book title to help me remember what it's about, but I don't try and review every book I read. I've found I just don't love writing reviews enough to do that. ;D
DeleteKeeping a notebook or a journal to review and track your reading is a great idea. :)
DeleteCongratulations on 10 years, Lark!!! I am thankful to be a part of this community and love chatting books with you!!
ReplyDeleteThank you, cindy! I love reading your blog and chatting about books with you, too. :D

DeleteI am very much behind to commenting this week, so happy belated anniversary <3 And book blogging is all the more interesting with you and your haiku reviews in it!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Verushka! Someday all my posts might be haikus. ;D
