5 Things I loved about this heartwarming Christmas novel:
✷ It's set in Scotland!
✷ Lucy Clarke gets snowed in with Ross Miller and his entire family over Christmas.
(I love that snowed-in trope!)
✷ Nanna Jean's unapologetic outspokenness & advice when it comes to matters of the heart--"because she's 86 and not getting any younger!"
✷ The banter and loyalty between Ross and his two sisters, Alice and Clemmie.
✷ The romance, friendship, and love between Alice and Nico, Clemmie and Fergus, and Ross and Lucy.
In tone and content, this one reminded me a lot of my favorite Rosamunde Pilcher books. It's all about family, finding love, and having the courage to speak up and tell your truth. This novel is charming and fun, and all the happy endings made me smile.
Happy Reading!
Sounds charming! I love the rustic teal door.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very pretty cover, isn't it?
DeleteOh gosh, I love a 'snowed in' trope too (it featured in Winter Solstice of course) so I'll go and look this one up. Sounds wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThere's just something so fun about the idea of being snowed in...not sure I want to experience it myself, but I do love reading about it. :D
DeleteIt sounds like just the ticket for the season.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good December read filled with that heartwarming Christmas cheer. :)
DeleteI like the snowed-in trope, too! :)
ReplyDeleteIt's the best! :D
DeleteScotland! I love that cover too so much every time I see it.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great cover. And any book set in Scotland always makes me want to read it. :D
DeleteYes! I enjoyed this one too, as you know. The snowed in trope is one of my favorites as well! Glad to see you enjoyed this one, Lark!
ReplyDeleteHow could I not? It's just fun and heartwarming.
DeleteA heartwarming Christmas book is all you need after some (Christmas themed) murder mysteries! Will check on this one immediately.
ReplyDeleteI agree! Happy reading. :D
DeleteSnowed in is one of my favorite holiday tropes and I do agree about the tone of Sarah Morgan's books being about family and getting at the truth inside.
ReplyDeleteI do like her books...but I've only two of her Christmas reads.
DeleteI loved this one too! The setting in Scotland really made the book for me.
ReplyDeleteI do love that Scotland setting! Maybe because I've been there and loved it so much. :D
DeleteI love the snowed-in trope too. Add in the Scottish setting and an outspoken Nanna, and I'm sold! :D
ReplyDeleteIt's a great trifecta of fun things! :D
DeleteI love Sarah Morgan's Christmas novels. I haven't read this one but would like to.
ReplyDeleteI've only read one other book by Morgan, but I really enjoyed it. I look forward to reading more by her. :D
DeleteFabulous review, Lark!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks! :D
DeleteThis sounds great! I do love books with older outspoken characters.
ReplyDeleteThey're always very entertaining.
DeleteHope there isn't too much snow then. I can hear the cold winter wind raging outside right now!
ReplyDeleteSnow and cold outside is fine when you can stay home and keep warm by the fire. :D
DeleteHi Lark, Never read Rosamunde Pilcher and I know I am missing out. This novel sounds very good too and Nanna Jean is just the kind of character I think I would like. I love Christmas romance novels and every year they used to publish the Christmas Regency romance series featuring 4 well known romance novelists each contributing a story set in the regency period. They were well written too.
ReplyDeleteI read some of those Christmas Regency romance books and thoroughly enjoyed them. I think you'd enjoy both this book...and any of Rosamunde Pilcher's. :D
DeleteI read and really enjoyed this one as well. I didn't think of the Pilcher comparison but I definitely see it!
ReplyDeleteIt's that whole family/community thing going on that really reminds me of Pilcher's books.
DeleteOooh, this one sounds super cozy!
ReplyDeleteIt really is.
DeleteThis sounds like a fun read!
