Top Ten Tuesday is a fun weekly meme hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week's theme is a little different. It's a Non-book Freebie....giving us all a chance to share something about ourselves besides the books we love to read.
Here are 10 Random Non-bookish Facts About Me (that may or may not be very interesting).
1. I'm very organized...except for the top of my desk which is a paper-strewn mess.
2. I love exploring old cemeteries.
3. I can recite the alphabet backwards.
4. My ancestors came to America from England, Scotland, Wales, Denmark and Prussia.
5. For excercise, I like to walk, do yoga and pilates, and hike.
6. I've spotted 207 different species of birds so far; and I'd really love to see a snowy owl someday.
7. My sister and I are working on another Kindle Vella story. (It's a Christmas romance set in Grayhaven with one or two ghosts in it.)
8. So Help Me Todd is my favorite TV show.
9. I've ridden elephants in Thailand, fed the monkeys in Bali, and gone hot air ballooning over Karnak Temple in Egypt.
10. Donuts are my downfall.
Happy TTT...and Happy Reading!
Good luck with your story!
ReplyDeleteHere is our Top Ten Tuesday.
Astilbe
Thank you! We're over halfway through; fingers crossed we can get it finished this summer. :D
DeleteI love donuts, yoga, hiking, and exploring old cemeteries, too!
ReplyDeleteMy post: https://lydiaschoch.com/top-ten-tuesday-my-favourite-things/
Yay! Another person who loves old cemeteries, too. :D
DeleteMe, three! As a teenager, I went with my grandmother and mother out to old (and often forgotten) cemeteries way out in the country to record all the information from each of the tombstones. Some were so badly worn that it wasn't easy. On one expedition, my grandmother kept warning me not to get in any poison ivy. (I was more concerned with snakes.) Guess who's the one who got in the poison ivy? ;-)
DeleteWhat a great memory! My dad was the one who took us kids to all the old cemeteries to look for relatives' graves, and my love of old cemeteries grew from there. :D
DeleteI love donuts. Regine
ReplyDelete:D They're the one dessert I can't ever seem to say no to.
DeleteAll of these are cool to learn, but #9 is crazy cool.
ReplyDeleteThose are some of my most favorite life moments. :D
DeleteI loved learning more about you! I am also very organized, except the end of my couch which houses my crochet projects/calendar/budgeting forms, books I am reading, and blogging stuff, LOL! I enjoy donuts, love walking/hiking/exploring new places, and exploring old cemeteries.
ReplyDeleteOld cemeteries are so cool! But some people look at my like I'm really strange when I tell them that. ;D
DeleteMy desk is the same way. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm glad your working on another story. I was going to ask you about that...
I've about given up on ever having a clean desk! ;D And writing more stories is one of my goals for this year.
DeleteI'm so excited to hear y'all are working on a new Grayhaven story. I was hoping there'd be more! :D
ReplyDeleteWe want to write several stories that are set in Grayhaven...we just need to learn to write faster. Maybe this summer we'll have more time. :D
DeleteWhat a great post! It's fun to learn more about you. Wow on #9! You've had some amazing experiences.
ReplyDeleteI haven't traveled as much as I'd like to, but I have been to some very cool places in the world. I count it as one of my many blessings. :D
DeleteDonuts are my downfall too :) I'd love to get back into pilates. Love the places you've been!
ReplyDeleteGlad to know I'm not alone in my donut addiction. ;D
DeleteHi Lark, thanks for sharing and I am looking forward to your next Kindle Vella story. Such interesting facts and you have really travelled! Congratulations on the hot air balloon. I don't know if I'd have the courage.
ReplyDeleteHot air ballooning in Egypt was one of the craziest things I've done, but SO fun, too! Being up in one is so amazing, and so quiet, just floating above the world. I loved it. :D
DeleteWow you've spotted 207 kinds of birds?! That's amazing! I'm opposite, I'm not super organized, but everything sitting out is in order. In the drawers, not so much, lol. You've had some cool adventures traveling to far off places! I also love hiking. I don't do much yoga or pilates, more HIIT or strength training routines. Thanks for sharing these interesting details! :)
ReplyDeleteMy birding list jumped up quite a bit when I traveled to the Galapagos one Easter, and also from all the birds I saw while floating down the Nile River in Egypt. Now I want to travel to Texas and the East Coast to see all the birds that migrate there. :D
DeleteI didn't know you were an author. I am not organised at all and for exercise I walk.
ReplyDeleteWalking is great. And me and my sister have started writing stories for Kindle Vella together. It's been a lot of fun.
DeleteHave a blessed day. Regine
ReplyDeleteThank you, Regine! Same to you. :D
DeleteThat is so cool. I've never been out of the US. Donuts are my downfall as well. I tell my family, it's a good thing that there isn't a donut shop or Starbucks in the shopping center next door to us. Those Mocha Frappuccinos are like crack for me. LOL
ReplyDelete:D It's very good that I don't live too close to a donut shop, too! I'd be over there everyday if I did.
DeleteNo. 1 is very me! LOL
ReplyDeleteNo. 3: Wow!
No. 5: I used to go the the gym 10 years ago, but nowadays, walking it is.
No. 7: Good luck with your story!
No. 9: I've only fed the monkeys in Bali, and envy you for going air balooning!
That hot air balloon ride was an adventure! And I loved feeding the monkeys in Bali; their paws are so soft, their faces so cute.
DeleteSo many fun facts! Mmm... donuts! Now I'm hungry. 😃
ReplyDelete:D Donuts always make me hungry, too.
Delete#1-- Many have told me that Organized is my middle name.
ReplyDelete#2-- Not only do I love exploring old cemeteries, I love exploring old ghost towns-- something I'd never done before until I lived in Utah for three years.
#4-- My ancestors came from Scotland, England, France, and Germany.
#6-- I've never counted all the types of birds I've seen. I don't know why.
#9-- I think my niece went on the same hot air balloon ride as you in Egypt. Me? I've only floated over the Sonoran Desert (which was fantastic).
Ghost towns are very cool! I like exploring them, too. And that hot air balloon ride over the Sonoran Desert does sound fantastic. And hey, our families came from very similar countries back in the day...probably why we get along. ;D And living where you do, you've probably seen more birds than me.
DeleteOoh now you have me thinking about doughnuts.....
ReplyDeleteMy TTT: https://jjbookblog.wordpress.com/2023/04/18/top-ten-tuesday-416/
That's because they're so irresistible! ;D
DeleteYou may be the only other person I've ever "met" who loves exploring old cemeteries. It's one of my favorite things and is such a fascinating snapshot of history! My big dream is to do a nationwide road trip to visit the places where my family has lived and visit the cemeteries. My husband is less enthused about this but luckily he's a good sport. #9 is just amazing! These are all so interesting and fun to get to know you a little bit better!
ReplyDeleteOld cemeteries are so fascinating. They do give you a snapshot into the past! I visit them as often as I can. :D
DeleteGreat post, Lark! And it's great learning more about you. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Melody. :D
DeleteIt's always enjoyable to learn more about the bloggers I follow. Good luck with your new story, Lark.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I'll let everyone know when we're ready to start posting it on KindleVella. :D
DeleteFun facts! I love old cemeteries, too. They've always felt peaceful to me, not creepy.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT (on a Friday)!
Cemeteries are pretty peaceful places. And I reading all the old headstones.
DeleteFun post! My favorite is #9 on your list. I'll have to check out the show on #8 :)
ReplyDeleteYou won't be sorry. So Help Me Todd is so funny!
DeleteMy desk is a mess as well, which I believe is a sign I am working! Saying the alphabet backwards is one of my techniques for falling asleep when my mind is racing. I haven't added to my birding life list in awhile, but 207 is a great number and I would also love to see a snowy owl. If I remember correctly, you've also seen a hoopee in Egypt--one of my bucket birds! So Help Me Todd sounds good--I'm always on the lookout for a good new show. Great list!
ReplyDeleteI did get to see a hoopoe in Egypt. They're amazing birds! And my messy desk with all its piles is a sign that I am not doing much of anything. ;D And I think you'd really enjoy So Help Me Todd; it's so funny and I love the relationship between Todd and his Mom.
DeleteI love old cemeteries too! I wish we had some around here. My town isn't very old.
ReplyDeleteWe've got a few old cemeteries around where I live, which is cool.
Delete1- that's me too but mostly when I'm working on a project.
ReplyDelete2- Do you visit them alone? I find cemeteries creepy but that's probably a cliche.
3 - I'm impressed. I sometimes forget the alphabet even in its proper order.
9 - I wouldn't be able to do any of those things but I'm glad you did.
10 - Donuts? I haven't had one in ages.
Have a lovely day.
So fun to read your thoughts on these...and how we differ. :D
DeleteI love visiting old cemeteries too. Actually, all cemeteries are pretty cool places to visit!
ReplyDeleteCemeteries are cool places to visit! I even like to visit them when I'm on vacation. ;D
