Top Ten Tuesday is a fun weekly meme hosted by Jana at That Artsy Reader Girl.
This week's theme? Things that instantly make me want to read a book.
I've done posts similar to this one before with Favorite Settings and Irresistible Premises & Plots. So I decided to tweak this week's TTT a tiny bit and go with...
Words and phrases in a blurb that always make me want to read the book:
Lost Treasure
Archaeological Quests
Rare Books (or manuscripts)
Search-and-Rescue Dogs
"Snowed-in"
Remote Island
Wilderness Survival
Homesteading
Crumbling Ancestral Estate
Artists/Stolen Art
Happy Reading!
Great idea. Love it.
ReplyDelete:D Thank you.
DeleteLove your answers, Lark! :)
ReplyDeleteHi, Melody! I'm looking forward to our next buddy read.
Delete'Archaeological quests' oh my gosh, yes! ( In fact quite a lot of the others too....)
ReplyDeleteBut aren't archaeological quests so much fun? If you run across any be sure to let me know so I can read them, too. :D
DeleteIt's always fun to see what draws others to pick up books. I haven't read too many remote island settings but there have been a couple that I really enjoyed.
ReplyDeleteI like that air mystery a remote island suggests, you know?
DeleteI like crumbling ancestral states, too.
ReplyDeleteHere is my Top Ten Tuesday post.
Lydia
There's something so intriguing about them. I always want to go exploring when I read a book set in one.
DeleteThis was a fun list because it is completely different from any other I've seen today.
ReplyDeleteI tried to mix it up this time around. ;D
DeleteYes! What a fun list! Pretty much all of these phrases make me want to pick up a book too. :)
ReplyDeleteWe do love to read many of the same kinds of books. :D
DeleteMost of these are ones that appeal to me as well. I especially love remote settings - they ramp up the tension in a book and just add an exotic element that I can't get enough of.
ReplyDeleteHappy TTT!
They really do! I love extreme settings like the Arctic or Antarctica for that same reason.
DeleteThere are some interesting phrases on your list! Some of them catch my attention as well.

I'm glad. :D Can't wait to check out your TTT list this week.
DeleteIslands, archaeological quests... all of these really. :)
ReplyDelete:D They make for some very funreads.
DeleteI can totally see that. I think words for me would be shifter, enemies, paranormal. lol
ReplyDeleteShifter and paranormal are big draw words for me, too. :D
DeleteOh, yes, treasure and stolen art!
ReplyDeleteThey just make for such fun books...full of mystery and adventure. :D
DeleteI like all of those. Have a great week
ReplyDeleteThank you. And thanks for commenting!
DeleteA lot of these tempt me too! Search and rescue dogs, snowed-in, remote island, wilderness survival, homesteading, and crumbling ancestral estate! This would've been a difficult TTT for me and you worked it brilliantly! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks. I struggled with what to go with and toyed with the idea of favorite romance tropes, but then I went this direction instead, because I do love all of these things! :D
DeleteThat's an interesting list. Those would intrigue me as well.
ReplyDeleteThere are certain trigger words that make me instantly want to know more about a book...and these are ten of them. :D
DeleteYes to 100% of these! My greatest disappointment is that my family has failed to leave me a crumbling ancestral estate with attics full of treasures! I love anything involving treasures and stolen art and can never resist any book with dogs - especially working dogs.
ReplyDeletelol. I've always been disappointed I didn't get to inherit an old estate with an attic full of treasures, too. :D
DeleteOoh, fun list! Lost Treasure, Rare Books, and Snowed In are all good ones for me. :) And remote islands and wilderness survivals -- absolutely!!
ReplyDeleteThose are some of my favorite kinds of books!
DeleteI could read very happily from each and every thing you listed.
ReplyDeleteI am not surprised. We are very similar readers. :D
DeleteLove your list. Rare books would be on my list too! Happy reading! My TTT https://readwithstefani.com/things-getting-in-the-way-of-reading/
ReplyDeleteRare books...and bookstores...are always big draws for me when it comes to books. Thanks for commenting! :D
DeleteI like that twist, Lark. Some of these (Search & Rescue Dogs, Snowed In and Remote Island) all pull me in as well.
ReplyDeleteAren't they fun to read about? They'd work well together in a book, too. ;D
DeleteWhat a fun twist on the theme!
ReplyDeleteMy TTT: https://jjbookblog.wordpress.com/2023/05/23/top-ten-tuesday-421-the-literary-dinner-party-2022-tag/
Thanks. I had fun coming up with my ten this week. :D
DeleteHomestead, stolen art, and rare books would buy me in every time! And "snowed-in" too, I guess, especially in a crime fiction.
ReplyDeleteSnowed-in works great in crime fiction...and also in romances. ;D
DeleteCrumbling Ancestral Estate would do it for me, too, and Rare Books has got to be a winner
ReplyDeleteEven better when those two things are combined! ;D
DeleteGreat twist! Yes to "snowed-in". Especially if I'm snowed-in, as well. 😃
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! :D
DeleteI'm with you 100%--every single one of them!
ReplyDelete:D That's why we like so many of the same books.
DeleteI'd read those, too, Lark! :)
ReplyDelete:D Nice to know we're alike in these.
DeleteGreat list!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteArcheology quests, rare manuscripts, and crumbling ancestral estates would be on my list too!
ReplyDeleteThey're all such fun things to read about!
