Classic I hope to read in June: Far From the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy
Other books I just checked out of the library:
Devoted by Dean R. Koontz
Lone Jack Trail by Owen Laukkanen
A Happy Catastrophe by Maggie Dawson
Whiteout by Ragnar Jonasson
The Highland Fling by Meghan Quinn
The English Bookshop by Janis Wildy
Good Girl, Bad Girl by Michael Robotham
To Win Her Heart by Karen Witemeyer
Horseman: a tale of Sleepy Hollow by Christina Henry
Primordial by David Wood
A favorite game of mine: Star Realms
This game is both easy to learn and very fun to play. There's even a cooperative game-playing option if you want to work together as a team. My nephew, Daniel, taught me how to play it, and I immediately loved it. If you're looking for a new game this summer to play as a family, I recommend this one.
And one last quote now that it's June and summer has begun:
Happy Summer...and Happy Reading!
There are so many great books about books and bookshops now. That pleases me very much. :-)
ReplyDeleteI do like a book set in a bookshop myself. Here's hoping The English Bookshop is as good as it looks. :)
DeleteEddy Johnson, Book Dealer sounds great! Books about books are always fun. I hope you enjoy Far From the Madding Crowd - I love Thomas Hardy!
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of Thomas Hardy, too. I've read and enjoyed six other books by him so far. :)
DeleteLongfellow's "summer" actually describes spring where I live. Summer? Uh, not so much!
ReplyDeleteSummer where I live is usually very hot and dry....at least July and August are. June is actually pretty nice. :)
DeleteThis was a fun randomness post. I'm jealous that you won a Goodreads Giveaway!
ReplyDeleteI've won a few books through Goodreads, and I feel very lucky each time I do because I'm not a person who wins things in life usually, you know?
DeleteGreat post, Lark. I hope you will enjoy all your June reads. You could have made that into a Top Ten Tuesday. ;)
ReplyDeleteFar From the Madding Crowd is still on my wishlist.
Thanks for visiting my TTT this week which is a little different.
I could've done it as a TTT, couldn't I? I always seem to think of things like that too late. Oh, well. I had fun with this randomness post. :)
DeleteIt doesn't matter what title you give a post, as long as we enjoy it. And I know I always do.
DeleteI recently listened to an audiobook about an obsessive book collector/thief- it had a lot about book dealers, too. I wonder how much is similar in Book Dealer! And I've been wanting to read Far from the Madding Crowd for a very long time. Really curious to hear what you think of it.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to reading Far From the Madding Crowd; it's been on my TBR list for years! And I'm curious...what's the name of that book you were listening to? It sounds like fun.
DeleteThe Man Who Loved Books Too Much by Allison Bartlett
DeleteI would like to read Far From the Madding Crowd, I'll be looking forward to your review for all these books.
ReplyDeleteJune's looking like a pretty good reading month for me. I'll let you know how Far From the Madding Crowd goes. :)
DeleteEddy Johnson looks fun. I like the Austin in the 80's setting. And Sleepy Hollow caught my eye too.
ReplyDeleteI think you'd like the Eddy Johnson one. And here's hoping Horseman is as good as it sounds! :)
DeleteThe Eddy Johnson sounds pretty fun, but alas my library doesn't have it. (Boo!)
ReplyDeleteSad! I hate when my library doesn't have what I want to read. But they've actually been really good about purchasing book requests, which I really appreciate. :)
DeleteA noir mystery with a bookshop owner sounds fab. Enjoy your stack of library books. Didn't realize Christina Henry tackled the Headless Horseman tale... I want to read a few classics this summer, but not sure what direction the mood will take me.
ReplyDeleteLove the imagery in the Longfellow poem.
I'm excited to read Henry's take on the Headless Horseman. I loved her dark take on Alice in Wonderland.
DeleteI have entered a lot of Goodreads Giveaways but haven't won one (yet!). Congratulations!! Happy June!!
ReplyDeleteI entered for years without ever winning anything either, but I've won like five or six books now. So your turn is coming!
DeleteEddy Johnson, Book Dealer sounds really good! And that's so cool that you won it from Goodreads. It's always such an exciting feeling winning one of those giveaways. :D
ReplyDeleteIt is fun to win a book from Goodreads! But any day with a free book in it is a good day. ;D
DeleteI vaguely remember reading Far From the Madding Crowd in college and liking it. Tess of the D'Urbervilles was always my favorite Hardy novel.
ReplyDeleteTess of the D'Urbervilles is my favorite Hardy novel, too. It was the first one I ever saw and read. And I still love it. :)
DeleteI love the quote. Thank you for sharing. Have a beautiful day.

Hi, Regine! Thanks for commenting. :D
DeleteIt's always fun to win books. Congrats!
ReplyDeleteIt is always fun to win a book! :D
DeleteFar from the Madding Crowd - loved the book and the movie.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm planning on watching it after I read the book. :)
DeleteThat's a great quote! Sounds like you have some good books to look forward to. It's been forever since I've checked out a book from the library!
ReplyDeleteI go to my library every month and check out way too many books. It's my main bookish addiction. ;D
DeleteOMG, someone actually won a GoodReads giveaway! I enter so many, and never win, so I just assumed no one ever won :) Congrats! Hope it's a winner of a book as well.
ReplyDeleteFar from the Madding Crowd is an excellent classic. One of my favorites--and the movies tend to be good as well. Gabriel Oak is a perfect hero, imo. Hope you like it.
I'm excited to read Far From the Madding Crowd, and then I want to watch the most recent movie version of it. And I couldn't believe I won a book from Goodreads either, because I never win anything. But I got lucky. And if I can win, anyone can! :D
DeleteFun winning a book from Goodreads! I think I've only won 2 in the 11 years I've been entering on there. I'll check out that game. I need a couple for a camping trip we're taking our grandkids on in a couple of weeks. It might be too old for a 4 and 7 year old, though.
ReplyDeleteI do love getting free books! And the game is a lot of fun, but it might be too hard for a 4 and 7 year old.
DeleteEddy Johnson Book Dealer sounds like a really fun read. It has been a long time since I last played a game!
ReplyDeleteEddy Johnson, Book Dealer was surprisingly humorous and fun. He's a character who doesn't take himself too seriously, and the crazy things that happen to him! It's a book worth reading. :)
