I love the haiku for The Chocolate Cobweb--so hooky!
ReplyDeleteThanks. It was a fun classic mystery. I enjoyed Armstrong's writing a lot. :D
DeleteI always enjoy your haiku reviews, Lark. All of these books sound so good! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks, Ashley! I had fun reading all three of these books. :D
DeleteI feel like I'm really missing out having not read Henry or Jenkins Reid. I should correct that soon!
ReplyDeleteThey're both good authors. If there's one of their novels that appeals to you I think you should definitely give it a try. I like the characters in Henry's books and her happy endings.
DeleteI always enjoy your Haikus--they're perfect in terms of telling me what I need to know! Carrie Soto is Back is intriguing--I may give it a try. And Chocolate Cobweb! What a great title. I don't know anything about Charlotte Armstrong...but I can learn!
ReplyDeleteIt's the first book by Charlotte Armstrong that I've read, but I did really enjoy it. I wouldn't mind reading more by her. :D
DeleteSo I hope the Henry story was funny? I liked parts of Carrie Soto but found her a bit of a mean-ish character ... still tennis is great.
ReplyDeleteCarrie was kind of mean; I like that she got kinder as the book went on. And there are many cute and humorous moments in Funny Story. :D
DeleteYour haiku reviews are always fun.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Mary! I'm glad you enjoy them. I certainly have fun writing them. :D
DeleteThe Charlotte Armstrong is going to be the one for me, and I hadn't heard of it, so that's fun.
ReplyDeleteThe haiku reviews are great as always!
I really enjoyed this Armstrong mystery. I've never read her before, but I want to read more of her books now. :D
DeleteI've been playing around with a few haikus...it's really not easy to get one to say exactly what you're aiming for. Nice job!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Sam. It's hard zeroing down and figuring out one main thing to write a haiku about a story. Some books are definitely easier to sum up in a haiku... and there are some books where I don't even try!
DeleteI hope to start Funny Story in the next couple of weeks. Glad to see your high rating!!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy Henry's books; she knows how to write such likable characters.
DeleteI loved Funny Story too! I read one story by Taylor Jenkins Reid and wasn't a fan. Haven't had the motivation to pick up another since. The Chocolate Cobweb sounds like something I'd enjoy. Great haiku reviews, Lark! :)
ReplyDeleteCarrie Soto is the only book I've read by Taylor Jenkins Reid. I know everyone raved about Daisy Jones ,but I just wasn't interested in reading that story.
DeleteI'm glad you enjoyed "Carrie Soto." It was one of my favorite reads of last year.
ReplyDeleteIt's a good one! I really enjoyed watching her journey, and seeing her relationship with her father.
DeleteI have the Taylor Jenkins Reid on my wish list. Glad you enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteSophia Rose
I thought it was very well written and I liked her journey.
DeleteI like Charlotte Armstrong's mysteries but I haven't read The Chocolate Cobweb yet.
ReplyDeleteIt's a fun one. My library has another book by her that I'm looking forward to reading next.
DeleteWow, three books with high praise all together! That's awesome!
ReplyDeleteI do love when that happens! Right before reading these I DNFed two in a row.
DeleteVery clever! I am about #600 on that Emily Henry book so it may take a while for it to arrive...
ReplyDeleteShe is certainly a very popular author. Several of my co-workers were talking about her books the other day, and I never hear them talking about books. ;D
DeleteLark, you are always so clever with these. Love them!
ReplyDelete<3 Thank you! I appreciate that.
DeleteFun, as usual! Haiku are so concise--I wish I could do them!
ReplyDeleteThey don't work for every book...but when they do they're a lot of fun to write. :D
DeleteEmily Henry's books are so fun. I haven't read this one yet but looking forward to it. Love your Haiku reviews!
ReplyDeleteHenry's books are fun. I still haven't read People You Meet on Vacation, but I hope to get to it this sumemr.
DeleteI'm on the waitlist for Funny Story and am looking forward to it. The Chocolate Cobweb sounds fun and is a new one to me. I need to give that one a try.
ReplyDeleteI thought it was a fun mystery. I enjoyed it. And I think you'll like Funny Story, too.
DeleteI really want to know if the cobweb is actually chocolate. LOL I do like the sound of the book. I am glad to see you enjoyed Funny Story. I have been seeing that book around a lot.
ReplyDeleteIt's a cobweb of lies...but there is chocolate in the story. And poison. ;D
